Last summer I tried a new kind of holiday: home exchange.
I swapped my apartment in the city for a house in the English countryside. The experience was very positive and now, back home, I decide to write an e-mail to the family with which I exchanged houses.
Dear Mark and Jessica
Sorry that I haven’t been in touch for a while but I’ve been incredibly busy since I got back! How are you? I hope you’re well. What have you been doing? Anything exciting? Thanks for your letter. I’m so pleased to hear that you’re going to visit our country next month.
Anyway, the reason I’m writing is to thank you for swapping my apartment in Barcelone for your stone-roofed cottage in the prettiest English countryside. The old village, nestled in the valleys, was beautiful and the people were in every way friendly and helpful.
I quite liked living in your house. To tell the truth, I felt at home because I didn’t live out of a suitcase. In fact, I put all my clothes and things in some cupboards. However, I didn’t have any details from how to use the TV remotes. Therefore, I wasn’t able to use them. Happily, I didn’t have any time to watch TV.
Well, that’s all for now. Thanks again for everything. I’m very interested in repeating this experience next year and I feel I have definitely made a couple of new friends.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Note: I enclose a photo I took of the cottage.
