What is my opinion about the article “The carbon footprint from turism”?
This is the article’s summary :
Although tourism is a relevant and huge commercial activity, it is also an uncleanliness business because this sector contributes to global CO2 emissions. In fact, the traveler’s transport and the accommodation activities are important contributors to a personal carbon cost.
Between the actions proposed for reducing greenhouse emissions are mitigating this emissions or accommodating the tourism activity to climate change conditions.
My opinion about this article:
If you ask me, I think that climate change have a strong interrelationship with tourism because the car exhaust fumes produce significant amounts of air pollution, for example.
Consequently, it seems to me we need a long term strategy for the tourism sector in order to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), in the same way as others sectors. To be honest, we have to implement concrete and simultaneous actions for mitigation greenhouse emissions.
As far as I’m concerned, the use of public transports instead our car and the use of unleaded petrol, undoubtedly, are some actions that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the transport. Just like that, the use of low-energy lamps or the recycle of plastic bottles in the hotels, are another mitigating strategies related to accommodation.
I absolutely agree that we have to encourage a sustainable tourism whose adopt an environmental, social, economic, and climate responsiveness. What’s more, a “quadruple bottom line” action. Fortunately, the Earth matters.
