Acording to International Energy Agency (IEA) last year in Beijing, during a heatwave, 50% of the power electricity capacity was going to air conditioning.
The more we cool our buildins, the more emissions we produce,
The more greenhouse we generate, the more we warm our world,
That is a really, really trap.
In this video I explain the air conditioning issue in three main points:
The American air conditioner’s invention and its spring up across the US from 1902 to 1950, firstly in industry and later in people’s home.
In the 1990s air-conditioned buildings began to spring up in Asia into new buildings which have American or European style jettisoning traditional architectural methods.
To reverse this threating situation we have to undertake some actions such as investment in startups to improve in an efficient way the technology of the air conditioner, a new legislation requiring all large buildings in the city to reduce their overall emissions by 40% by 2030, with a goal of 80% by 2050, and alternative refrigerants.
